<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">What is Earth Day?
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Earth Day is observed on April 22 and was started in the United States in 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson to create awareness for the Earth's environment and to encourage conservation efforts. In 1990, Earth Day was taken international, and today, more than 500 million people in 175 countries observe Earth Day.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">We have been learning how to recycle, reuse, and re purpose the things around us. Here are a few ideas:
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1. Eat smart. Know what's in your food and where it comes from.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">2. Use a reusable water bottle like a stainless steel one.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">3. Take shorter showers.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">4. Stop using those plastic bags every store tries to give you. Instead bring your own bag or box. Most stores have their own "green" bag for a small price. Put them right back into your car after you unpack the groceries so you will always be prepared.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">5. Recycle newspapers, magazines, junk mail and other household paper that no longer is useful to you.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">6. Unplug the iPod chargers when not in use.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">7. Take old towels and sheets to the local pet shelter.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">8. Support local farmer markets or get involved in a CSA.
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">9. Plant a tree or start a vegetable garden of your own.
<span style="font-family: "verdana";">10. What are you doing to celebrate our Earth?
McDonalds, How I wish you would improve in your ingredients. You may have noticed the addition of this leprechaun seasonal green dyed item on the menu. Please don't consider yourself lucky by having access to this chemical fest.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you’ve ever wondered what gives the shake its famous green color, the secret is in the syrup. The Shamrock Shake syrup contains yellow 5 and blue 1, both of which have been linked to behavioral problems and hyperactivity in children. Blue 1 is also poorly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, and yellow 5 can be linked to cancer. The Center for Science in the Public Interest has petitioned the Food and Drug Administration to ban the additives since 2008, and they have already been phased out in the United Kingdom. The syrup also contains — surprise — high fructose corn syrup.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">And take a closer look, there is no mention of mint in the emerald colored drinks. But there is Carrageenan which is widely added to ice creams and yogurts. Carrageenan is linked to inflammatory illnesses. Chronic inflammation is the root of many diseases including Parkinsons, heart disease, Alzheimers, and cancers.
Teal is the color of food allergy awareness and has been used to raise awareness about this serious medical condition for nearly 20 years. Food allergies are a life-altering and potentially life-threatening disease, and a growing public health issue. In the U.S., one in 13 children has a food allergy – that’s roughly two in every classroom. For these children, even a tiny amount of their allergen has the potential to cause a severe reaction.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Halloween can also be a nightmare if you or your kids have ADD/ADHD tendancies and have an intolerance to artificial colors like red 40, yellow 5/6, blue 1, artificial flavor, vanillin, or preservatives like BHT or TBHQ. These chemicals are found in many candies and gum. Try a trade in policy with your kids. I've heard it called the "switch witch". After trick or treating help your kids go through their candy and have them trade in all the yucky chemical candy for approved candies without the chemicals, stickers, a special toy or game, maybe even a little money! In my area there are schools and dentists who will take donated candy and arrange to send it to the Troops. Do you have a trade in policy?

We did this last year for the launch and it was very well received. Tons of parents of the little trick or treaters asked about it and some even asked questions about how we started out with Feingold. Everyone liked seeing the options of treats and non food treats. I purchased a can of teal spray paint at Home Depot and wola! Such a beautiful color!
Do you know what's in the chocolate bar you are eating? Do you suffer from migraines, irritability, skin problems? Are your kids eating chocolate? Are they impulsive, un-focused, quick to rage? Take a look at the ingredients in your candy bar. You might be surprised to see a range of chemical ickys in there.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Luckily, there are choices! We sub with Sundrops, UnReal, and Clark. It doesn't just stop at candy. When we started this journey a few years ago I discovered the importance of reading ingredient labels. Do not assume your food will help you stay healthy. You need to know what ingredients to avoid. So many ingredients in the US food system will effect your well being and that of your children.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I remember an ice cream social we took part in. We've been mindful of toxic ingredients for some time now. I knew what the spread was going to be without even seeing it. I wish I had snapped a picture of the table. There was every kind of candy topping you could think of. It would surely make other like minded folks cringe. We brought simple substitutions free of dangerous chemicals, enjoyed the party and didn't miss out on a thing. Funny, it wasn't long before lots of kids were running around willy nilly and we all noticed a host of impatient adults trying to deal with the chaos. oy..
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Does your school or activity have these kinds of celebrations? Do they follow a party and treat guideline?
Did you know that the typical Easter egg dye kits you buy in the store are chock full of red 40, yellow 5, yellow 6, blue 1? You usually add some vinegar to the concoction for more vivid coloring. The problem? Well, the dye leaches into the egg. You definitely don't want to eat these eggs. But there is more, you really don't want this dye to be absorbed through your skin. These kinds of dyes have shown to have effects on children with adhd tendencies. Artificial food dye is made from petroleum, a crude oil product. This is the stuff that is also used to make gasoline, diesel, tar, and asphalt. Yuck.

Click here to read my post about the ADD/adhd and artificial food coloring connection.

Look at the eggs we color with natural dyes. They may not have that artificial vivid color look, but to me, they are even more beautiful.

Here are some simple recipes to color your Easter eggs naturally. Do you color your eggs with natural ingredients? What do you use?

PINK~ Mix 1 cup strained juice from canned beets, 1/2 teaspoon vinegar and 3 cups water. Soak cooled eggs for about 1/2 hr, less or more to your desired color.

ORANGE~ In a pot, mix 1 cup yellow onion skin (about 2 onions' worth), packed loosely, 1 teaspoon vinegar, and 3 cups water. Boil mixture for 1/2 hour, cool to room temperature, strain out the onion skins, then add cooled eggs and soak them in the dye for 1/2 hour.

PURPLE~Mix 1 cup purple grape juice, 1/2 teaspoon vinegar, and 3 cups water. Soak cooled eggs in the dye for 1/2 hour.

YELLOW~In a pot, mix 1 teaspoon turmeric, 1 teaspoon vinegar, and 3 cups water. Boil mixture for 1/2 hour, cool to room temperature, strain out stray turmeric grains, then add cooled eggs and soak them in
the dye for 1/2 hour.

LIGHT BLUE~In a pot, mix 1 cup red cabbage leaves, torn and loosely packed, 1 teaspoon vinegar, and 3 cups water. Boil mixture for 1/2 hour, cool to room temperature, strain out the cabbage leaves, then add cooled eggs and soak them in the dye for 1/2 hour.

This is such a great visual article about red 40, yellow 5 and 6, blue 1, etc. Click artificial colors to learn how they may be effecting you or your kids?
Did you know that Kellogg's and Kraft don't use artificial colors in their products in Great Britain?... that yellow 6 is banned in Norway and Sweden?.. that Red 40 can cause hyperactivity?

We have been a dye free family for several years now. I don't buy or offer anything to my kids without first reading the ingredient label. It's easier than it used to be but I can't assume anything is safe because companies can change manufacturers who may in turn use cheaper ingredients.

Arm yourself with information. Know what you and your kids are eating. You might be surprised by what's really in that breakfast cereal. You might wonder why your son or daughter has sleep problems, focus issues, keeps chewing on his collar...any of which could be due to a food color sensitivity.

Try an easy experiment. Remove artificial colors from your diet for a couple days and see if you notice a difference.

My children have an intolerance to chemical additives including artificial colors, red 40, yellow 5/6, blue 1, artificial flavor, vanillin, BHT, BPA and TBHQ. I do not buy products containing these additives.

Several years ago it all started with an itchy tongue. We were also having problems with focus in school, impulsivity, behavior, self esteem in my then 5 year old. My other kids had problems falling asleep, staying asleep, night terrors, gait problems, migraines. I started researching and thankfully learned about an elimination diet called the Feingold diet. We have not looked back. Today my kids are honor roll students and involved in many extra curricular activities. They demonstrate self control, and have confidence in their abilities.

There is a petition on change.org that is asking Mars Inc., makers of M&M's, to replace artificial dyes with natural coloring. They already do this in Europe. Why is the US so far behind? More signatures are needed. Please sign and share with your groups and blogs. Together, we can make a difference.
Do you believe we are what we eat? Do you think we should have the right to know what we are eating?
Most Americans don't know what they are eating. Many aren't even reading the labels. I began reading labels several years ago when I noticed reactions in my kids after they ate something with a certain chemical additives like red 40, yellow 5, vanillin, BHT, etc. Changing our eating style has helped me and my family so much. If I don't know what's in it, I won't buy it, period.

I have started taking it a step further when I began learning about GMO's. GMO stands for genetically modified organisms

It's a challenging process but Whole Foods is committed to labeling all their products by the year 2018 and is the first national grocery store chain to set a deadline to do so. There may be many reasons people want to know what's in their food. Don't you think we have the right to know?
Take a look at the trailer and tell me what you think. It is really eye opening. I have a variety of water bottles that I use most of the time but I still buy bottled water. Not sure why and will definately be limiting that more and more.
edit to read: no longer buying water bottles! Using stainless steel water bottles. Love them!
This came out in 2008. Our diet lifestyle has changed dramatically over the last 50 year. This movie will make you think about making organic choices.

As I continue to learn and grow I come upon things that make me pause. We avoid harmful additives as much as we can, my kids have a direct reaction to foods and products that contain artificial colors like red 40, yellow 5, yellow 6, blue 1. We avoid artificial flavors, especially vanillin, high fructose corn syrup, MSG, and preservatives like sodium benzoate, TBHQ, BHT, and BPA. We also cut foods that contain high levels of salycilates. Salycilates are chemicals that are found naturally in some plants. Strawberries, grapes, and cherries are just a few fruits that are high in salycilates. Tomato, peppers, and water chestnuts are some of the vegetables that are high in salycilates. I've recently cut foods that are GMO.

Many children with ADHD/ADD react poorly to food that contain any of the above.

To learn what's in your food while you are at the grocery store check out fooducate. Fooducate is available in the ap store. They also have a blog here.. http://blog.fooducate.com/

And, remember to always check labels. Just because it says "100% juice" does not mean it actually is "100 juice".

King Corn- The premise is 2 friends follow the path of a kernel of corn through planting, harvesting and distribution. For families dealing with chemical/phenol/petro issues, this is a real eye opener. Take a look at the trailer and tell me what you think.

Food Inc- This film looks at the issues of corporate farming in America and the problem it's become. This movie speaks to many unknown facts including Monsanto's soybean monopoly and the lacking USDA power in the US.

Supersize Me- Follow along as Morgan Spurlock consumes nothing but McDonalds 3 times a day for a month. Ewww.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Everyone experiences some of
these symptoms once in a while, but it is the intensity and frequency that can
indicate when it is not a normal condition and where diet could play a
part. This material is for information
only and is not intended to replace appropriate medical care.
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

For my family it all started with my youngest who complained of an itchy tongue. We have learned so much about food and follow the Feingold diet avoiding artificial colors, red 40, yellow 5, yellow 6, blue 1, artificial flavors, vanillin, preservatives, BHT, BPA and TBHQ. These chemicals effect my kids and so many others who may not even realize it's all in what they are eating.

If you are having problems with your childs self esteem, impulsivity, aggression, test results, reading, sleeping, mood, etc. try avoiding these chemicals. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. You will need to give yourself time to read labels while shopping and maybe invest in a good pair of readers!

Kids and adults who eat products containing a chemical additive that they may have an intolerance for can exhibit 1 or more of the following problems.
It is with great gratitude I write this post. A good friend of mine, Wendalyn Cole Kirpanos recently introduced me to Essential Oils. Thank goodness for her patience. Wendy is full of knowledge about EO's and follows an organic lifestyle. I admire her so much. I had dabbled with essential oils in the past but never to the point of realizing their true potential.
I want to share what I am learning about EO's. I will start with lavender.
Essential Oil Lavender
I keep a bottle in my pocket. This was my first purchase a couple weeks ago. I read up on lavender and I just couldn't wait to try it. I just placed an order for a 2nd bottle to keep at home. Lavender has come in handy in so many ways, there are so many uses for it!
Recently a friend burned her finger taking something out of the toaster. I knew lavender would help soothe and heal quickly and I was able to say "I have an oil for that." A drop is all it took to take the sting away and the blistering healed quickly.
Headache? Apply lavender on your temples or at the base of your skull.
Monthly cramps? Rub a couple drops in a clockwise motion where it hurts.
Restlessness? Close your eyes and inhale for a few seconds from the bottle.
There are so many reasons to love lavender.
Lavender oil is one of the most calming oils. Not only is it a relaxing agent, but is commonly used to relieve tension, treat aches and pains, treat skin conditions, and used to enhance circulation and respiration.
For these reasons, Lavender oil is also used as a massage oil. For those with ADHD, Lavender oil can be massaged into the feet and shoulders to help regain grounding. Try it, it really works!
Popular applications include adding drops of Lavender oil into a hot bath and soaking, or combining it with water in a spray bottle or mister. I read somewhere about a woman who hated entertaining her family because there were always arguments and tension. She put a few drops on cotton balls and put one in each room of her home. She said the family disputes were replaced with peace and family enjoyment!
Today, lavender is most commonly used for anxiety, depression, mental exhaustion, insomnia, scrapes and wounds, digestive problems, headaches, skin problems and women's health problems. In addition to this, lavender can be used to treat exhaustion, heat exposure, fevers, aches and pains, over-exertion, jet lag, rashes, sprains, sunburn, sunstroke, bruises and burns. It can also be used as a disinfectant and insect repellent. Lavender is an antiseptic, natural antibiotic, sedative, and can detoxify.
These are conditions that make the pharmaceutical companies a lot of money. Many OTC medicines can be replaced with essential oils. Of course, always consult your physician and do your own research.
Essential oils are a natural way to heal darn near everything. They are affordable and a little goes a long way. The foundation of essential oils and aromatherapy date back 1000's of years. I look forward to sharing my experiences with essential oils.

TBHQ is a preservative found in many of today's foods and especially convenience and snack items. This preservative helps the food to not go rancid too quick. Shelf life is an important part of our food manufacturers.

TBHQ stands for Tertiary Butylhydroquinone. This is a chemical preservative in the form of butane. The risks and side effects of this chemical creation far outweighs the benefits.

ADHD. ADHD stands for attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. ADHD is a behavioral disorder that effects 8 - 10% school age children. I believe it effects far more and reaches far beyond childhood. Boys are about 3x more likely to exhibit ADHD. Kids with ADHD act without thinking, have trouble focusing and are hyperactive. Some kids can display rage.

We were out and about this weekend and although I limit purchases from vending machines, I gave in on a Payday. This is a peanut, caramel candy bar. I glanced at the ingredient list and somehow missed TBHQ listed but there it is:

INGREDIENTS:
Peanuts, sugar, corn syrup, nonfat milk, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, contains 2% or less of: Partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (soybean and cottonseed oil), salt, carrageenan, mono- and diglycerides, TBHQ (preservative), egg whites, and soy protein.

My son is paying the price for eating that .90 cent candy bar. He is restless, impulsive and not feeling strong in balance. He is having a hard day at school and got in to it with one of his best friends at recess. I so hate seeing the effects of chemical reactions in my kids. One of the worse parts is the after effect. His self esteem plummets.

You may be interested to know that TBHQ is in fast food fries. It is in the oil which allows food preparers to heat the oil at super high temps and use the oil over and over again. There are just 3 fast food places I know of that do not use TBHQ in their french fry oil and they are 5 Guys, In n Out, and Wendys.

A home remedy that works for us is a warm Epsom salt bath. The magnesium in the salts help restore balance. I am also using essential oils and am seeing success. More on that to come!

We avoid artificial colors like Red 40, Yellow 5 and 6, Blue 1, artificial flavors like Vanillin, BHA, BHT and TBHQ, as well as high fructose corn syrup. Its not as hard as it sounds, and if I would have held my own and not caved at the vending machine, I would not have been reminded how miserable these chemical additives are.

What do you think a bully looks like?

A bully is not all inclusive. Bullies are many. Boys, Girls, Grown Ups.
Its widespread and can happen anywhere. It should NOT be accepted as "kids just being kids" or kids just fooling around, any should never be accepted as a phase.

What are different forms of bullying?

1. Repetition
2. Imbalance of power
3. Intent to harm

Bullying can take on the form of many things:
1. Verbal
2. Physical
3. Social
4. Cyberbullying

Everyday in our country kids wake up and are afraid to go to school. They can suffer anxiety, depression and increased episodes of sadness and lonliness among other things. Some kids are very good at hiding this but inside they are hurting. These feelings can last well into adulthood. Bullies tend to bully those who may act different and look different. Bullies seldom bully when no one else is around, they want an audience, they want to feel powerful.

Bullying should never be tolerated. Too many times a bully will say if you tell, you are a tattle tale. This drives even more fear into our kids. Teach your children to tell a trusted adult, mom or dad, grandparents, a teacher. We cannot fail our kids. Education is key and we have to continue to raise awareness about this very important issue. To put our heads in the sand and act like its not going on is irresponsible and could be considered illegal.

I recently proposed a bully box at our school. The idea is so simple. You provide a box, something like a Valentines Box that can remain confidential. You could either have short forms to fill our or blank pages of paper. Kids could use the bully box as an outlet if they are being bullied, saw someone bully or even "think" they may be being bullied. The papers could be looked at by an administrator to "weed out" issues like my friend would not sit with me at lunch or those girls won't play with me today. They then could be passed on to the social worker. The social worker and administrator could now know something that they may not have known about before. If this kind of system helps just one person, it is a success. Lots of times there are some kids who know a person is being bullied. This could also help them communicate what they are seeing happen. Being able to express this kind of thing is so important and kids may not want to go to a teacher because they don't want to be labeled a tattle tale. Its a terrible cycle. I don't know if the bully box will be implemented. It could be called anything if they don't want to use the word bully. What do you think?

If the bullying gets worse and you need additional help, consider the following if:

Someone is at immediate risk of harm because of bullying.....Call the police 911
Your child is feeling suicidal because of bullying.....Contact the suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
Your child’s teacher is not keeping your child safe from being bullied.....Contact local school administrator (principal or superintendent)
Your school is not keeping your child safe from being bullied.....Contact the State School Department
Your child is sick, stressed, not sleeping, or is having other problems because of bullying..... Contact your counselor or other health professional
Your child is bullied because of their race, ethnicity, or disability and local help is not working to solve the problem.....Contact the U.S. Department of Education’s Office on Civil Rights
If you are wondering if your child's anger outbursts, temper tantrums, impulsiveness or aggression could be linked to what he eats, keep reading. If you child has been diagnosed with ADHD or has tendencies you may want to look at what they are eating both at home and school lunch.

If you live in America and eat or serve your kids "snacks" it is most likely you are being subjected to artificial food dyes. If you are drinking enhanced or flavored water, it is likely you are being subjected to artificial food dyes. If you are eating soft serve ice cream or going to fast food restaurants...well dyes are in many of those foods too.

What are artificial food dyes? Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, and Blue 1 are the top 4 in the US. These are additives the FDA does not restrict from our nations food supply. Those pretty colors that make the "fruit punch" red, the gelatin green and the oatmeal blue are made from petroleum (crude oil) which is also the source for gasoline.

You will find them on the ingredient labels, listed as "Yellow No. 5," "Red 40," "Blue #1," etc. The label may say "FD&C" before the number. That means "Food, Drug & Cosmetics." When you see a number listed as "D&C" in a product, such as "D&C Red #33" it means that this coloring is considered safe for medicine (drugs) and cosmetics, but not for food.

Kids today eat differently than their parents and grandparents. 30 years ago a lollipop was a special treat for sitting during a haircut. A trip to a fast food restaurant was an occasion. Today, kids are bombarded by food with artificial colors. Take a look in your pantry and fridge this week. I bet you'll find some red 40, blue 1, yellow 5 and 6 lurking in there.

If your child has ADHD or tendencies like hyperactivity, aggression, rage, self esteem issues, impulsiveness, take a look at what they are eating. Try an experiment and remove these artificial dyes for a week or 2. You may be re-introduced to a brand new kid!
mom said ...http://www.blogger.com/profile/06935948257561791173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-925713991382552881.post-49396900491984409662011-11-05T00:05:00.002-05:002012-01-18T14:06:06.904-06:00Bullying

I have to vear off my no red 40 artificial colors, etc. blog to no bully talk. I am sick of the silence. As a parent of 3 school age kids I am very concerned about the effects of bullying. It is a growing worry in schools and on playgrounds across the country. What, as a parent can we do? PLENTY.
Listen to your kids. Watch your kids. and most of all, trust your instincts.

Mom Dad Uncle Aunt Brother Sister Teacher Friend...watch the children around you. You may be able to make a BIG difference. Bullying is becoming a lifestyle and we need to put a stop to it. PRONTO.

Don't be afraid to speak up. There is no place for bullying and to not do anything only enables it. School is well underway, to 2nd quarter and the school lunch program is motoring right along. There are still the Styrofoam trays, chocolate milk, canned fruit filled with heavy sugars, juice cups with red 40 added, burgers and popcorn chicken in wrappers or boxes. Kids pay their 2.50, line up, get their lunches and in some cases have less than 10 minutes to eat. Do you see anything wrong with this? For one, Styrofoam trays. Goodness, in an effort to go green or even make a small attempt at going green, lets ditch the styrofoam. Really, is anyone still using this?! If you have a sink, you should be able to have a tray that you can wash and reuse. We have several sinks. Chocolate milk; our school requires 2 beverage choices. The selection is 2% white milk or chocolate milk loaded with artificial flavors. The 2% milk is no better, treated with bovine enhancement hormones. Couldn't we offer water as a choice? Canned fruit, you know the kind. When I was a kid it was called fruit cocktail. It's a mixture of xxxxx ladled with heavy syrup. Where's the apple? Banana? Popcorn chicken in a box. I think this is the lunch companies way of relating to fast food. How about a grass fed chicken drum stick? And fruit juice cups. Sure it says 100% juice but if you read the label you will find red 40 in the ingredient list. Again, an apple, banana, orange. Fresh fruit anyone? This represents one single days lunch, a lunch provided to 1st thru 5th graders as the only hot lunch option and also offered to 6th thru 8th grade as the hot lunch option. Cost for this tasty feast of additives, $2.50. Yikes!
My kids do not eat hot lunch. I wish I could say they never eat it. I do however sit down with the one binder of hot lunch items and the ingredients in each item offered. Red 40 listed, an automatic no. The same goes for yellow 5 or 6, BHT, Vanillin, and MSG. These are some of the things that most affect my kids. These are some of the things that effect a great number of kids.
I will share those with you now and I will also share the ingredient list for those lunches, the list the parents never see unless they head over to the school and ask to see the ingredient binder.
I've been anxiously awaiting this since I heard about it a month or so ago. It was close to my house, I knew some of the vendors from other markets that were going to be there and I was supporting local interests. I know not all markets can boust certified organic or even organic labeling but I had become used to the vendors I've become to know and purchase from, with confidence. This time I was caught off guard and purchased an item without reading the label until I got home. When I read RED 40 on the ingredient list, I just about fell over. All the indicators were there, the color WAS red. Why I didn't think to look is really a lesson I will take with me moving forward on all new future purchases. I'm so passionate about this because we are a family who has been on diet therapy removing ALL artificial colors. Colors like red 40, yellow 5 and 6, blue 1 and have done so very successfully resulting in immediate results in my kids behavior and temperment and eliminating my migraines.
There was no deception on this particular vendors part, but it definately re-ignited my need to always read the label. mom said ...http://www.blogger.com/profile/06935948257561791173noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-925713991382552881.post-19421773396686040312011-07-08T23:57:00.005-05:002011-07-09T00:48:16.233-05:00With The Help of Friends - Blog Buttons
I have been blogging along now for a little while, learning things and picking up different ideas here and there and I have made some fantastic blog friends along the way!

I love the buttons I've been seeing, you know the ones that you can "grab" and put on your own blog....kinda like a blog referral. To my blog friends, if you have a button, let me know and I will place it on my sidebar. If you are interested, I have just figured out how to have my own button. I didn't do this by myself, however, and special thanks go to C at The Stylish House for this first design when I was fumbling my way around blogger and J at Day & Age Design for the tutorial on how to make my own. Maybe I'll try to come up with a new pic to make my very own picture, but for now, I'm pretty darn impressed that I figured this out. Ladies, you are the best teachers, Thank You!
And in the meantime..........please feel free to grab my new button! :)
