Dominick's Launches Own Brand - Open Nature

If you shop at Dominick's you may be interested to know they are launching their own food brand called Open Nature.  Their tag line is "Nature has nothing to hide, neither should your food".  I couldn't agree more!  I have always been a Jewel shopper, I like how they organize their organic food and I know the layout of the store but I am going to check out Dominick's new line and pricing.  The great thing is more and more natural choices  (no artificial colors, artificial flavors or preservatives ) are coming to the marketplace and as consumers start to realize the sources of the food they purchase, we should see even more!

Now if only we could see Dominicks bakery to include some additive free items too!!

  1. But is it also free of GMO's? If not there is nothing natural about it!

  2. Ms. J., you are right. This is the FAQs given on their website and I have emailed them specifically asking about GMO-free items. I'll post their response here is they send a reply.

    Why natural?
Food products, particularly packaged foods, can contain many hidden ingredients, like artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives. We believe that this gets in the way of enjoying the natural taste of real, whole foods. And of course, it goes without saying that there are health benefits to eating more of the natural stuff and less of the artificial stuff!

What are the regulations behind natural products?
Currently, there are no government regulations behind natural products. It is up to individual companies to establish their own standards and abide by them with integrity. We hope you will find Open Nature to be a brand you can trust. This is why we list the ingredients on the front of the package, so that you know exactly what you are getting.

Is taste impacted with Open Nature™ since products have shorter ingredient lists?
This brand is all about great, natural taste with no artificial flavors and preservatives to get in the way between you and your food. Some of our products are naturally higher in fat and sodium because we intentionally select whole ingredients (i.e., not reduced fat versions) and natural seasonings to deliver on delicious flavor that is all-natural.

Where can I buy Open Nature products?
Currently, fresh natural Angus beef and pork are available in a select number of stores in California and Washington under our Vons and Safeway banners.

  3. Well, no response after a couple weeks from Dominicks. Very disappointing. I will see what more I can learn about Open Nature and thank you Ms. J. for raising MY awareness.
